Hello world!

I love to understand how most things work, repair, maintain and build things. I'm very concerned about sustainability, particularly over-consumption. Other than that, I'm a biochemist with research experience also in molecular biology, biophysics and structural studies (Cambridge University, UK). I grew up on a small island on the English North Sea coast, and sailed as much as I could... and when not sailing, I was building model sailing boats :-) From my research career, I specialized in science communication and editorial at the European Molecular Biology Organization, where I was a programme manager and journal editor for 9 years. Since then I've been living in Germany. I then became an editor-in-chief at the publisher Wiley for 13 years. Now I'm freelance, and I help young researchers organize their research, write good papers and get them published, read and cited! I keep my scientific brain active by analysing energy and material economies, and that is what made me realize the relevance of learning from biology, which has created a massive, sustainable recycling system (circular economy) over 3.5 billion years... and that using carbon compounds! Quite thought-provoking, don't you think?
